COSMOTHEISM / COSMOTHEOLOGY

JULY 14th, 2009

I never thought that I'd be one to 'invent' or propose a religion and/or theological school-of-thought. Yet here I am, a 27 year old White male just sitting around in the U.S. state of North Carolina on a beautifully clear and sunny day contemplating religion/theology, God/Gods/the God Idea, and the cosmos/universe, and I've done just that. This religious idea has been milling about in my mind and consciousness for quite a while, but I just now decided to put it down in writing and make it fully public.

In terms of similarities with other religions or theological systems, Cosmotheism / Cosmotheology could and likely should be considered a branch or offshoot belief-system related to
Pantheism as well as Deism.

I'm not at all aware if the following 'religion' and/or theological idea of Cosmotheism / Cosmotheology has ever been proposed by anyone, and since I'm not sure I'll go ahead and explain/propose it. Compared to the often wildly complicated theological intricacies of other religions, Cosmotheism / Cosmotheology is rather simple to grasp:

COSMOTHEISM / COSMOTHEOLOGY
+ The cosmos/universe is the 'body of God,' or the 'body' of: the Lord, the Almighty Creator, the Deity, the Divine Being, the Supreme Cosmic Force, the Universal Source of All Life in the Universe, the Great Cosmic Intelligence, the Great Architect of the Universe, whatever you want to call It (most people nowadays simply prefer the word "God").
- As such, each star in the cosmos/universe (remember, the cosmos/universe = 'body of God') is a single cell in the cosmic 'body of God.' For instance, the local star that forms the center of our solar system (what we call
the Sun) is but one tiny individual cell in the cosmic/universal 'body of God.'

+ Such is Cosmotheism / Cosmotheology:
- "Suns of God" / "Stellar Cells of God"

Cosmotheism / Cosmotheology is not a 'religion' that is focused on questions related to supposed 'morality' or 'immorality' - it takes an entirely neutral stance on issues related to morality/immorality and is merely an attempt to explain the possible physical manifestation of God in the cosmos/universe. Also, Cosmotheism / Cosmotheology takes no stance whatsoever on the existence or non-existence of the afterlife, Heaven, Hell, etc., except in the sense that the lives of the inhabitants of various star/solar systems cease once the star (cell) dies, while conversely other lives arise as other stars (cells) are born.

Also, it must also be said that even though I 'invented' this religion, I'm not sure if I even believe in it or follow any of its precepts. I think of it more as theological theorizing rather than seeking to institute and codify an entirely new religion or theological system.
